Employee Survey

Jubilee Hall Clubs Case Study

Jubilee Hall Clubs (JHC) is a charitable sports trust based in London, helping to promote health and wellbeing within local communities. This mission is carried out by providing concessions to the unemployed, students, OAPS etc. and by working with a range of strategic partners to deliver community programmes to a wide variety of target groups.

The Business Requirement

One of JHC’s core values, as an organisation, is delivering what it promises to its staff and a priority is therefore to listen to its employees’ in order to understand their attitudes and opinions. A recent strategic initiative required the strengthening of a particular behaviour across all employees and it was decided that, before any activities took place, a survey would be conducted to provide a baseline measure in order that the degree of subsequent improvement could be measured.

Due to the sensitive nature of an employee survey, complete confidentiality and anonymity were mandatory and JHC decided that it was important to use an online survey conducted by an independent organisation. By providing strong levels of confidentiality and anonymity JHC believed they would achieve higher response rates and increase the level of employee engagement.

JHC came to Sigmer Technologies with the requirement of producing and executing a robust, reliable and secure staff survey which would be accessible for all employees, looked professional and would give people an opportunity to communicate their thoughts, attitudes and ideas that could not be gathered using normal line-management processes.

The Sigmer Solution

Sigmer’s Managed Survey Service was a perfect solution for JHC’s requirements and, utilising Sigmer’s experience of occupational surveys and questionnaire design, an online survey was rapidly created that was easy for respondents to navigate through and branded to JHC’s requirements. The attractive and sophisticated survey helped to demonstrate to staff JHC’s commitment to the survey project.

JCH staff have demanding operational roles and, to ensure freedom of communication for the employee, Sigmer provided questionnaire ‘Save and Return’ functionality to allow employees to take their time in their responses - and links to the survey were sent via personal and work email addresses in order to allow easy access. Sigmer consultants are experienced in the usability aspects of survey design and, for JHC, utilised progressive disclosure techniques such as roll-over ‘Tips’ feature in order for questions to be explained further and definitions to be expanded.

The Result

The survey was a considerable success and JHC achieved a high response rate which enabled them to create an accurate picture of their employee’s attitudes and opinions of the organisation. As a result, JHC will be holding discussions as a whole company regarding the findings and to discuss further areas for improvements over the coming year.
